Meta Deutsch (born March 6, 1891 in Darmstadt ; † April 16, 1989 there ) was a German graphic artist and plexiglass eraser .

life and work

After finishing school, Meta Deutsch began her artistic training at Adolf Beyer's painting school in Darmstadt , which she continued at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich .

She came to work with plexiglass through the graphic technique of etching .

Since 1937 her studio has been on the premises of the Röhm & Haas company . She advised the company on all artistic issues and worked with the Plexiglas product made there.

Deutsch was the first female artist to work intensively with the material and to experiment artistically. She worked in her studio until 1975, from where many of her works found their way around the world.

Themes of her narrative works, which consist of the finest lineament , are historical architecture, genre scenes, animals, flowers, portraits and symbols.
