Carl Ditt , also Karl Ditt ( April 6, 1816 in Frankfurt am Main - January 26, 1888 in Mannheim ) was a German singer ( bass , baritone ).

Life

Ditt, the son of an art gardener, was initially a merchant, but at 25 years of age he devoted himself to the stage. After he had repeatedly tried himself successfully in the Frankfurt men's choir, he became a member of the city theater until he joined the Association of the Mannheim Court Theater in 1841, where he made his debut as "Oroviste" and "Pietro" in "Stumme von Portici" and until his death worked on this stage.

He sang the whole baritone subject and in 1847 switched to the bass buffo parts. In these he achieved extraordinary things and should not have found an equal rival so easily. Ditt was highly musical, sang confidently and purely and was beneficially supported in his performances by a lively, moving game and happy humor. This excellent artist died on January 26th, 1888 in Mannheim.

His brothers were the actor Martin Ditt and the singer Franz Ditt .
