Franz Ditt

Franz Ditt (born December 8, 1813 in Frankfurt am Main , † May 22, 1854 in Berlin ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Ditt was the second son of the art gardener Wilhelm Ditt; the singer Carl Ditt was his younger brother , the actor Martin Ditt his older brother. His talent as a singer was discovered during his training as a gardener by his father.

In Frankfurt, Ditt received stage lessons from the opera singer Johann Baptist Pischek and was able to successfully debut in the role of "Don Ottavio" at the local theater in 1840 . In 1842 he moved to the city theater in Breslau and stayed there for two years. After a year at the Schauspielhaus Berlin , Ditt was engaged at the Hoftheater Hannover at the end of 1844 and stayed there until 1846.

After several months of engagement at the Theater an der Wien , Ditt was brought to the Hamburg City Theater from 1847 to 1850 . Then he got a two-year engagement in Breslau. In the last year he joined the Association of City Theater in Riga. Ditt was a popular heroic tenor who quickly managed to win favor with the public.

Franz Ditt died in Berlin on May 22, 1854 at the age of 41 and was buried there.
