The Meteorite Valley ( English for Meteoritental ) is a 2.5 km long and between 1.0 and 1.8 km wide valley in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the outback nunatak core , it cuts through the southern part of Frontier Mountain in a southwest-northeast orientation. It is between 1900 and 2300 m altitude, while the slopes flanking it reach up to 2600 m .
German geologists named it in 1984 after the numerous meteorites found here .
