Metin Emiroğlu

Metin Emiroğlu (* 1943 in Arapgir , Malatya Province ) is a Turkish politician of the motherland party ANAP ( Anavatan Partisi ) , who was Minister of Education, Youth and Sport between 1985 and 1987 and Minister of Labor and Social Security between 1985 and 1987.

Life

Emiroğlu moved with his family to Malatya in 1948 , where he completed his basic and secondary education. He then began studying law at Istanbul University , which he graduated in 1966. He then did his military service in an army infantry unit . He then completed his master's degree in business administration at the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. From 1969 to 1972 Emiroğlu worked in the social planning department of the State Planning Office DPT (Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı) . He was then Secretary General of the Textile Industry Employers' Association (Türkiye Tekstil İşverenleri Sendikası) until 1979 . During this time he organized courses for vocational training and brought about the establishment of the Association of Textile Exporters.

In 1983 he was one of the co-founders of the motherland party ANAP ( Anavatan Partisi ) alongside Turgut Özal and was elected member of the Grand National Assembly on November 6, 1983 , where he represented from the 17th to the end of the 20th legislative period on April 18, 1999 the interests of his home province of Malatya. At the beginning of the 17th legislative period he was chairman of the parliamentary committee for planning and budget.

On September 13, 1985, Emiroğlu was appointed by Prime Minister Turgut Özal to succeed Vehbi Dinçerler as Minister for Education, Youth and Sport (Millî Eğitim, Gençlik ve Spor Bakanı) in his first cabinet , to which he was a member until December 21, 1987. On June 23, 1991, Prime Minister Mesut Yılmaz appointed him Minister of Labor and Social Security (Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik Bakanı) in his first cabinet and was a member of this until the end of Yılmaz's term of office on November 20, 1991.

After leaving the Grand National Assembly, Emiroğlu, who is married and has two children, started working as a lawyer.
