Metschyslau Ivanavich Hryb (born September 28, 1938 in Sawitscha in the Hrodna district ) is a former Belarusian politician . He was briefly President of Belarus in 1994.

Hryb was initially a fire service technician, in 1967 he graduated from Minsk University with a law degree .

In 1990, Hryb became a member of the Supreme Council of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic (from 1991 Republic of Belarus). He was a member of the Presidium of the Board of Governors and chaired the Standing Commission on National Security, Defense and Crime.

As deputy chairman of the “Narodnaya hramada” party, he was a member and chairman of the Belarusian parliament from 1994 to 1995. After the overthrow of President Stanislau Shushkievich , he was appointed president on January 28, 1994 and remained so until Aljaksandr Lukashenka took office on July 20, 1994. He then opposed Lukashenka and belonged to the Belarusian Social Democratic Party between 1996 and 2011 (Hramada) on.
