Mette Tronvoll (* 1965 in Trondheim , Norway ) is a Norwegian photo artist .

Life

Mette Tronvoll studied at art schools in Norway and at Parsons The New School for Design in New York. Her work is represented in numerous public collections in Germany and abroad, including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Kunsthalle Kiel . The artist lives in Oslo and Berlin.

After the attacks of September 11, 2001 , Mette Tronvoll received permission to spend months observing a special unit that was being trained to ward off terrorist attacks in a remote military camp in northern Norway. The soldiers were not allowed to show their faces for security reasons. This is how recordings were made in which the protagonists are either seen from behind or hide their faces behind storm masks .
