history

The health insurance fund was founded on December 1st, 1884 as a closed company health insurance fund by Gaenslen & Völter , a family company founded in Metzingen in 1883 by Heinrich Gaenslen and Christian Völter as a manufacturer of upholstery fabrics, technical fabrics and carded yarns. The company health insurance fund has been a member of today's regional association of company health insurance funds south .

Until February 2009, it only insured employees of Gaenslen & Völter GmbH + Co KG; since March 2009, the health insurance has been open to insured persons in Baden-Württemberg. It is connected to the Mhplus company health insurance fund through an administrative community, which performs the statutory tasks of the Metzingen company health insurance fund . The Articles of Association in the version dated March 3, 2009 were amended by a supplement dated July 28, 2009. According to this, the Board of Directors has six members.

On March 1, 2014, due to the ongoing insolvency proceedings of Gaenslen & Völter GmbH + Co KG, the renaming of Gaenslen & Völter Company Health Insurance Fund (G&V BKK) to Metzinger Company Health Insurance Fund took place . On January 1, 2018, the company health insurance company MEM Meuselwitz was integrated. The location in Meuselwitz will be continued.

On August 14, 2018, the Federal Cartel Office approved the integration into the Mhplus company health insurance fund as of January 1, 2019. The reason for the merger was the return to equal financing of health insurance contributions from 2019, which would shift the focus from the amount of the contributions to the benefits.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. The Gaenslen & Völter Company Health Insurance Fund never raised the additional contribution that is independent of the health insurance fund and instead paid a non-income-related premium, from October 1, 2009 to December 31, 2012 an annual 72 euros, 2013 and 2014 an annual 120 euros. In 2017, it raised an additional contribution of 0.3 percent of the contributory income. In 2015, 2016 and 2018, the Metzingen company health insurance fund did not levy any income-related additional contribution.
