This success encouraged Cohen to form his own band and record an album. This is how the song Breathe came about . The first draft of this song (guitar and bass) was written by Gil Baram, a longtime friend who also helped produce the Toxicity video. Cohen chose Eric Emery as the singer for this song. Emery introduced her to Sahaj Ticotin, who played a large role in the making of Breathe . Cohen wrote the lyrics for the song together with Ticotin. In his house he recorded guitar, bass and backing vocals, Emery on vocals and Cohen on drums. The song was then mixed by Dave Schiffmann (u. A. Avenged Sevenfold, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down and RHCP) and Paul Logus (u. A. Limp Bizkit, David Bowie, Killswitch Engage and Beyonce) mastered . Breathe is the first song that Meytal Cohen released with her band Meytal .

After the success of the song and a sold out concert at Whiskey a Go Go , a rock club on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood , several record companies became aware of the band and offered various contracts. However, Cohen decided to produce the album himself. So she kept all rights to her music, the merchandise , etc. To implement this project, Cohen initiated a Kickstarter campaign to collect $ 60,000 with the help of her fans for the production of her first album. The campaign was a huge success, raising over $ 140,000. From July 24, 2015, the album Alchemy could be purchased exclusively for the first 30 days on the Meytal Cohen website.
