Mián Mián ( Chinese  棉棉 ; born August 28, 1970 in Shànghǎi ; actually: Chinese  王 莘 , Pinyin Wáng Shēn ) is a Chinese writer .

Life

Mian Mian comes from Shanghai and describes the youth and pop scene of the new China , which she got to know well as a DJ , rock show and rave promoter.

She started writing when she was 16. According to a media rumor, this is due to the fact that one of her friends had committed suicide. In 1997, her first short stories were published in the literary magazine 《小说 界》 Xiaoshuo Jie . The four stories 《啦啦 啦》 La la la appeared in 1997 in Hong Kong (in German 2000). Her first novel 《糖》 Candy followed in the spring of 2000. Both books were bestsellers and translated into several languages. In the People's Republic of China itself, however, they were only available as black copies after a short time.

Mian Mian then worked as an actress in the film Shanghai Panic (2002, Chinese original title: 《啦啦 啦 我们 害怕 啦啦 啦》 ), for which she also wrote the screenplay . She also took on a role in the film Xiao shuo (2006, English title: "The Obscure").

Because of their allegedly dubious moral quality, Mian-Mian's books were censored, in fact banned, by the Chinese authorities until 2002. La La La (translation: Karin Hasselblatt) was published in Germany by Kiepenheuer & Witsch in an uncensored version that was revised by the author.

MianMian lives in Shanghai. Her daughter, born in 2000, lives with her ex-husband in Beijing.
