Michael A. Landes

Michael A. Landes (born June 4, 1948 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German architect , urban planner and furniture designer.

Life

Michael Alexander Landes is the son of Erich Landes (* 1921), the former Medical Director of the Dermatology Clinic in Darmstadt. Michael Alexander Landes studied architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt from 1970 to 1976 . Then he went on a two-year trip around the world. From 1978 onwards, he successfully devoted himself to architectural competitions and projects in Germany with various partners. In 1979 he set up an office with Wolfgang Rang. From 1980 to 1985 he had a teaching position at the Technical University (TH) Darmstadt. In 1981, the architects entered into another partnership called Berghof Landes Rang. The office was one of the most important representatives of postmodernism in Germany. The Landeszentralbank (LZB) in Frankfurt (1988, in partnership with Jourdan & Müller) is an example. The new LZB building was awarded the German Natural Stone Prize in 1989. The art furniture Frankfurt high-rise cabinet F1 and F2, as well as the Frankfurt star chair F3 are masterpieces of postmodern design and part of numerous international museums.

In 1995 the Landes & Partner Architects office was established in Frankfurt am Main. The office takes on work in planning areas such as town planning, building construction, interior architecture and furniture design. For the Ensemble Union site in Frankfurt, he was awarded the Martin Elsaesser plaque for “Excellent Architecture in Hesse 1998-2003” from the Association of German Architects (BDA) Hesse. The Hansahöfe in Frankfurt were recognized in 2014 with the award for exemplary building from the Hessen Chamber of Architects. After the revision of the Goethehöfe-German Romantic Museum competition in Frankfurt, he built the Goethehöfe ensemble with the Cantate Hall, the German Romantic Museum , apartments and the museum café next to the 2015-2018, in a planning partnership with Christoph Mäckler Goethe House and the Free German Hochstift is built in downtown Frankfurt.

Michael Alexander Landes lives in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen, is married and has four children.
