Michael Adams (business lawyer)

Michael Adams (born September 30, 1947 in Koblenz ) is a German lawyer and economist . He heads the Institute for Economic Law at the University of Hamburg .

Career

Adams graduated from the University of Bonn with a degree in law in 1970 . Then he was an assistant at the Institute for Civil Procedure Law at the University of Bonn until 1975. At the same time, he studied economics in Bonn, which he completed in 1976. From 1975 to 1977 he was assistant at the chair for civil law and commercial law at the University of Hagen . Then he was an assistant at the Institute for Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Bonn until 1982, where he also received his doctorate . His dissertation from 1979 was on "Economic Analysis of Security Rights". From 1982 to 1986 he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Applied Microeconomics at the University of Bern . In 1984 , Adams completed his habilitation at the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bern for the subjects of private law and microeconomics. In 1986 he was offered a position at the University of Hamburg as a university professor for business law in the department of economics. From 1994 to 1997 he was a university professor for general business administration at the University of Cologne . Afterwards he went back to Hamburg as a university professor for business law in the department of economics. There he is head of the work area Civil Law and Economic Analysis of Law at the Institute for Economic Law.

Work areas

Adams specializes in economic law analysis, corporate law and finance.

Adams has contributed to several laws, drafts, opinions and opinions. For example with the law on control and transparency in the corporate sector.

Adams is a sought-after interview partner for economic and social law issues, such as Germany ( Manager Magazin ), manager salaries ( SWR television ), and tobacco tax ( Die Zeit ). In a Spiegel interview , he campaigned for Josef Ackermann to be acquitted .

He became known to a wider audience with the book he published, "The Business with Death - The Beginning of the End of the Cigarette Industry".
