Live and act

Michael J. Ahnemann began to turn to practical filmmaking in the mid-1960s and was able to land considerable critical success with his first film, the short film Cowboy , made by him and Gary Schlosser . The 17-minute film, which gave a sober overview of the unglamorous life of today's cattle herders in the American Midwest, received an Oscar nomination in 1967 for Best Short Documentary . Despite this brilliant debut, Ahnemann stayed away from active work in film production for a dozen years; it was not until the end of April 1978 that he was able to make another documentary film. The result, Pacific High , was released in US cinemas in February 1980 and illustrated the Ensenada Yacht Race, which is held annually within 24 hours over the 200-nautical mile distance between Newport Beach, California, and Ensenada , Mexico . From the mid-1980s Michael Ahnemann found regular television employment; this time as a screenwriter. With his manuscripts he supplied individual TV productions as well as popular series, including Miami Vice and The Lady with the Colt . At the end of the millennium, Ahnemann ended all filmic activities.
