Michael Akoto (born March 10, 1997 ) is a German - Ghanaian soccer player . He has been under contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 II since summer 2018 and is mostly used in central defense.
Career
For the 2016/17 season he rose from the A-youth team from SV Wehen Wiesbaden to the third division team. Under coach Rüdiger Rehm , he made his professional football debut on August 23, 2017 in a 5-0 win against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach . In the 67th minute he was substituted on for Moritz Kuhn . His contract expired after the 2017/18 season. Akoto then switched to the U23 from Mainz 05 on the other side of the Rhine .
