Michael Altherr (born April 4, 1681 in Trogen AR ; † April 13, 1735 there ; authorized to reside in Trogen) was a Swiss landlord , Landammann and delegate from the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Michael Altherr was a son of Ulrich Altherr, Hauptmann, and Cathrin Bruderer. In 1702 he married Barbel Hertenegger, a daughter of Captain Jacob Hertenegger. Altherr was a farmer and in 1730 became the landlord of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. In 1732 he was elected as the dormant Landammann and held this office until 1735 (1734 to 1735 as governing Landammann). From 1734 he also represented Appenzell Ausserrhoden in the daily statutes . During the time of Appenzell trade , a domestic dispute between the parties of the Harten focusing in Herisau (textile merchant family weather ) and the Linden focusing in Trogen (textile merchant family Zellweger ), was Michael Altherr at the Extraordinary rural community in Teufen in 1732 as a representative of Hard to Landammann elected. His party prevailed, and Altherr advocated severe punishment of the opponents.

In April 1735, at the opening of the small council, he died of a stroke.
