Michael Andrew Lee

Michael "Mike" Lee (born December 11, 1958 in Cambridge , United Kingdom ) is a British speedway and long track driver and World Champion of 1980 (Speedway) and long track (1981) at the World Speedway Individuals .

At the age of 14 he drove speedway races, to compete in the second English division as a 15-year-old and won the British Junior Championship in 1976. At the age of just 19, he was in the individual World Cup final in Gothenburg in 1977 and immediately finished fourth before winning the World Cup in 1980 in the same stadium. In 1981 he won the Long Track World Championship in Gornja Radgona , in what was then Yugoslavia and now Slovenia . His last international success came with 3rd place in 1983 at the Speedway World Cup finals in East Friesland in the Motodrom Halbemond .

Lee was in 2007 for cannabis accused -owned for their own use, but avoided a jail sentence and was sentenced for possession of cannabis and amphetamines in July 2007, only fined. He was charged again on October 8, 2013, on charges of rape and other sexual offenses.
