Michael Arndt (born October 21, 1959 in Neuss ) is a former German Taekwondoin . He is multiple German champion and became world heavyweight champion in 1987.

Life

Arndt started Taekwondo in 1977. Three years later, he became European champion for the first time in the over 84 kilogram class. He was able to repeat this success in 1986. He celebrated the greatest success of his career in 1987 when he won the heavyweight title at the World Cup in Barcelona . In the summer of 1988 he won the bronze medal at the Summer Olympics in Seoul , where Taekwondo was a demonstration sport in the program. In 1989 he won the gold medal at the World Games in Karlsruhe. In addition, between 1980 and 1989 he was a seven-time German master and seven-time international German master.

During his active career, he also worked as a trainer in the NWTU clubs of Roland Stephan and Peter van der Akker .
