Michael Ashkin

Michael Ashkin (* 1955 in Morristown ) is an American photographer and installation artist .

life and work

Ashkin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Oriental Studies in 1977 . In 1980 the master's degree followed at Columbia University and, in 1993, the Master of Fine Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago . In 2009 he received a Guggenheim scholarship . He is a professor at Cornell University .

Michael Ashkin's media are sculpture, installation, photography, video, poetry, and text.

Ashkin has participated in numerous international exhibitions. Including the Whitney Biennial (1997), Documenta11 (2002) and the Vienna Secession (2009).
