Michael Baumann (director)

Michael Baumann (born July 15, 1970 in Munich ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

Baumann studied education in Munich and directing at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television . In 2001 he made his first feature film WEG! , which premiered at the 35th Hof International Film Festival and received the award for best production design. In 2008/09 he was engaged at the Staatstheater Stuttgart , where he realized Woyzeck as a stage play. In 2009 he made a full-length documentary about an old hair salon in Stuttgart together with Jenke Nordalm Wash & Life .

Baumann and his co-writer Sabine Westermaier were awarded the Thomas Strittmatter Screenplay Prize for the feature film Willkommen bei Habib , which was released in German cinemas in June 2014 .

Together with Sabine Westermeier, Baumann is currently working on the feature film script Missing Link , with which they were nominated again for the Thomas Strittmatter Screenplay Award in February 2018 .

In addition to his work as a director, he has been writing radio stories for the Bayerischer Rundfunk's Betthupferl since 2012 and also works as a lecturer for camera acting and acting.
