Context: weekly (proper spelling CONTEXT: weekly ) is a German weekly , on Wednesdays as Internet newspaper appears and Saturdays as an independent supplement of taz .am weekend . The newspaper is financed through one-time and regular donations. It is run by the association Context: Association for holistic journalism e. V. published. Her goal is high quality, independent and investigative journalism , which she sees at risk in the media sponsored by advertisers .

timeline

The online newspaper was founded in April 2011 by a group of journalists led by Josef-Otto Freudenreich , the long-time chief reporter of the Stuttgarter Zeitung .

The reason for the foundation was the disputes about the construction of the new Stuttgart main station as part of Stuttgart 21 as well as the so-called black Thursday on September 30, 2010 in the Stuttgart palace garden and the dissatisfaction with an increasingly superficial reporting in the press landscape in the eyes of the founders, not only to Stuttgart 21.

The aim is "to create an independent information medium that builds on the basic values of journalism: inquire, analyze, research", as it says on the newspaper's website.

In April 2012, the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Winfried Kretschmann , the journalist and publisher Jakob Augstein and one of the main figures in the resistance against the controversial railway project, Gangolf Stocker, congratulated the one-year anniversary .

The digital medium appears every Wednesday and every Saturday in printed form as a four-page supplement to the daily newspaper (taz) .
