Kostas Koufogiorgos

Kostas Koufogiorgos ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Κουφογιώργος Konstantinos Koufogiorgos; born February 14, 1972 in Arta , Greece) is a Greek-German caricaturist and painter.

Life

He grew up on the island of Lefkada as well as in Patras . After graduating from high school in 1989, he began studying economics at the University of Athens in 1990, which he completed with a diploma. At the same time he began to work as a freelance cartoonist. His first cartoons were published in 1989 in the political magazine ODIGITIS.

Koufogiorgos has worked for political and business newspapers and around 20 magazines in Greece. He has also illustrated books, advertisements and posters. Until the Athens daily Eleftherotypia was discontinued at the end of 2014, he was represented there with a daily cartoon.

Koufogiorgos has lived and worked in Germany since 2008 and publishes his work in newspapers, including Handelsblatt , Passauer Neue Presse , Mitteldeutsche Zeitung , Magdeburger Volksstimme , Schweriner Volkszeitung , Westfälischer Anzeiger , Nordkurier , Weser Kurier , Fuldaer Zeitung , Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung , Ruhrnachrichten , Mainpost , Freie Presse , Tageblatt (Luxembourg). He also works for numerous school book publishers, online portals ( web.de , gmx.de , MSN ) and various magazines, e.g. B. the Swiss satirical magazine Nebelspalter .

Engagement against Stuttgart 21

Kostas Koufogiorgos is known in Stuttgart for his graphic resistance to the Stuttgart 21 rail project . His caricatures can be found in large numbers on posters, information leaflets, flyers and on banners of numerous opponents of the project.
