Michael Blackwood (athlete)

Michael Blackwood (born August 29, 1976 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican athlete who has specialized in the 400-meter run - with a personal best of 44.60 s in Madrid (2002).

He never won a major tournament, although he was close to third at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Saint-Denis near Paris. In the competition of the 400-meter run at the 2004 Olympic Summer Games , he finished eighth with 45.55 s. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he only reached the semi-finals as third in the preliminary run.

Even so, Blackwood has been part of many successful 4-by-400-meter relays . He won the bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games and the 2001 World Indoor Championships . At the 2003 World Championships , the season also came in third (later it moved up to second place). The season also came in second at the 2003 World Indoor Championships . Five years later, Blackwood was back in the final with a completely reorganized season at the World Indoor Championships in 2008 and was able to win silver again.
