Michael Brandl

Michael Brandl (born September 15, 1854 in Mitterlobming , today municipality Lobmingtal ; † February 9, 1928 there ) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( German Agrarian Party ). He was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives , member of the Styrian Landtag and a member of the Provisional National Assembly .

Life

Brandl was born as the son of the farmer and community leader Franz Brandl. He attended the one-class elementary school and did his military service as a horn player with the Feldjäger Battalion No. 9 . He took part in the campaign against Bosnia in 1878 . From 1885 he worked as a farmer on the Hauser farm in Mitterlobming. He was involved as chairman of the Murbodener cattle breeding cooperative in Knittelfeld and worked on the local political level as a local councilor in Mitterlobming. He was also active in his home community as a community committee member of Kleinlobming and a member of the local school council. Brandl received in 1902 a mandate in the parliament of Styria, which he held until 1918 had held, he also joined the Imperial Council election in 1911 in the constituency Steiermark 15 , where he was able to prevail Party in the runoff against the candidate of the Christian Social. He was a member of the House of Representatives from July 17, 1911 until its end on November 12, 1918 and, as a member of a German Reichsrat electoral district, was also a member of the Provisional National Assembly from October 21, 1918 to February 16, 1919. In the Reichsrat Brandl was initially a member of the Club of the German Agrarian Party in the German National Association , in 1913 he moved to the German Center, like the entire state party of German Agrarians . In October 1918 he switched to the German-Austrian Independence Party .

Brandl married Agnes Pichler in 1885 and had at least five sons and five daughters.
