Michael Edward Curry (born August 22, 1968 in Anniston, Alabama) is an American basketball coach and current assistant coach of the Philadelphia 76ers . Michael Curry joined the Detroit Pistons on June 9, 2008 , previously trained by Flip Saunders . Michael Curry himself played in the NBA from 1993 to 2005. During this period he achieved a total of 2,986 points and 1,045 rebounds during the regular season .

Player career

In eleven years in the NBA, he played for six different clubs. Before his NBA career, he played for Steiner Bayreuth.

From 2001 to 2005, Curry was president of the National Basketball Players Association .

Detroit Pistons

On June 10, 2008, he signed as a coach with the Detroit Pistons , replacing Flip Saunders . He receives $ 2.5 million a year. On June 30, 2009 , the Pistons were fired as coach.

Philadelphia 76ers

For the 2010/11 season , Curry became the new associate head coach and assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers .
