Michael Bordo

Michael David Bordo (* 1942 in Montreal , Canada ) is an American - Canadian economist and university professor . He is particularly active in the field of economic history with a focus on money and finance .

Career, research and teaching

After studying politics and economics at McGill University , which Bordo graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1963 , he went to the London School of Economics . There he graduated with a Master of Science two years later . After returning to North America, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1972. -Degree. As early as 1969 Assistant Professor at Carleton University , he was promoted to associate professor three years after graduating from Chicago in 1975. In 1981 he followed a call from the University of South Carolina and moved to the University of South Carolina as an economics professorCollege of Business Administration . In 1989 he went to Rutgers University , where he became director of the Center for Monetary and Financial History a year later .

Research and teaching Bordo on economic history include the processing of US, North American and European developments in the field of money and finance, international money economy and money economy history as well as fundamental questions on economic principles, macroeconomics and monetary theory .
