Michael Devaney (born November 29, 1984 in Dublin ) is a former Irish racing driver .

Career

Devaney began his motorsport career in karting in 1997 , where he was active until 2000. In 2001 he made his debut in the Irish Formula Ford in Formula racing . In 2002 he switched to the German Formula BMW . Devaney finished the season in fifth place with a win. A season later he won three races and improved to fourth place in the championship. In 2004 Devaney switched to the German Formula 3 Cup . He won two races and finished the season in fourth place in the drivers' standings. In 2005 he completed his second season in German Formula 3. With five wins, he was runner-up behind Peter Elkmann .

In the winter of 2005/2006 , Devaney took part in three events of the newly founded A1 Grand Prix . Two fourth places were his best results. The other races for the Irish team were completed by Ralph Firman . The team reached eighth place in the championship. In the summer, Devaney only took part in two races of the British Porsche Carrera Cup . In the A1GP season 2006/2007 Devaney began for the Irish team. After four events, however, he was replaced by Richard Lyons , who drove the following seven race weekends. Devaney had one point and Lyons seven points.

In 2007 Devaney competed in British Formula 3 for Ultimate Motorsport . Two fourth places were his best results and he won the team-internal duel against Esteban Guerrieri . At the end of the season he was twelfth. He also made two guest starts in the Formula 3 Euro Series . In 2008 Devaney stayed in the British Formula 3 Championship with Ultimate Motorsport. Unlike most other teams, his team used Mygale chassis. Devaney won two races and was the only Mygale rider to win. He was also the first winner in a Mygale Formula 3 chassis. In the overall standings, he improved to eighth place.

Since 2009 Devaney has not competed in any international racing series.
