Michael Eifler

Michael Eifler (born May 13, 1601 in Zinten ; † November 26, 1657 in Königsberg (Prussia) ) was a German logician and physicist .

Life

Nothing is known about Eifler's parental home and the first years of his life. He enrolled at the University of Königsberg in 1616 and on September 30, 1627 acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy. In the same year he became prorector of the Königsberg cathedral school. In 1630 he was appointed professor of logic and metaphysics and was given supervision over the alumni . He also took over the professorship in physics in 1639.

He also had to give lectures at the theological faculty. In this capacity he worked several times as dean of the philosophical faculty in the graduation of the same. He also took part in the organizational tasks of the Königsberg University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the summer semesters 1640, 1648 and 1656 . His body was buried in the cathedral on November 30th.

Eifler had married Elisabeth, daughter of the professor of mathematics Sigismund Weier , on January 22nd, 1631 . He was the father of the poet Gertraud Moller (born October 13, 1637, † February 16, 1705) and two sons.
