Michael Ferdinand von Althann

Michael Leopold Ferdinand Graf von Althann (born July 29, 1808 in Linz , † May 30, 1890 in Gronenberg ) was an officer in the Austrian Empire .

As the son of Michael Maximilian Franz Graf von Althann Freiherr von und zu Goldburg zu Murstetten (born March 13, 1769) and his wife Maria Franziska Antonia Countess of Thürheim (born December 4, 1774), Michael Leopold Ferdinand became Count of Althann on July 29th Born in Linz in 1808, he belongs to the Althann family . In 1823 he was a cadet in the 27th Infantry - Regiment and rose after expiry of this period for an ensign on. Until 1837 he served as squadron commander , in the following year he was first-class Grand of Spain . In 1840 he also acted as a chamberlain . He had been a major in the Chevauleger regiment since 1845 . He also took part in the campaign against Hungary in 1848/1849 , where he got fame through his position as a regimental colonel .

For von Althann's services, he received the Austrian Imperial Leopold Order and the Order of the Iron Crown, second class. On April 20, 1836, he married Countess Maria Pejácsevich de Veröcze (* April 20, 1811, † May 28, 1883). Four children are known from marriage:

  • Maria Eleonora Countess von Althann (born August 30, 1838, married Anton Heinrich Schröder)
  • Marie Hermine von Althann (* 1839)
  • Michael Alexander Graf von Althann (born June 19, 1842, married Irma, Countess Adamovich de Csepin)
  • Marie Ottilie Countess von Althann (born March 30, 1847)

On May 30, 1890, von Althann died at the age of 81 in Gronenberg.
