Michael Freund (born September 16, 1954 ) is a German driver and trainer who specializes in four-in-hand cars. From 2000 to 2015 he was a judge for the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

He is internationally successful and became world champion in the team for the first time in 1992 together with Christoph Sandmann and Hansjörg Hammann. He was not only able to repeat this success with the same team at the World Equestrian Games in The Hague in 1994 , he also became individual world champion.

He won the four-in-hand World Cup in three consecutive seasons (2001/2002, 2002/2003 and 2003/2004) .

In 2004 he became individual world champion and at the 2006 World Equestrian Games he was again world champion with the team. Michael Freund was awarded the title of driving master by the German Equestrian Association (FN) in 2004.

In 2013 he won the combined examination ( CAI -A 2) in Altenfelden, Austria.
