Michael foot

Johann Michael foot or Johann Mihály foot , also foot , (born October 5, 1814 in Hermannstadt , † April 17, 1883 in Großschubbing ) was a Transylvanian , k. k. and k. u. k. Austrian, Protestant clergyman and botanist .

Live and act

Fuß was a pastor in Gierelsau. He undertook botanical expeditions within Europe, especially to Romania. Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Fuss ". His main works are "Textbook of Natural History" and the "Flora transsilvaniae excursoria". He also published the 4th volume by Baumgarten : "Enumeratio stirpium magno Transsilvaniae principatui praeprimis indigenarum ...", 1846, and wrote "Mantissa prima plus registers", 1846.

Honors

The plant genus Fussia Schur from the sweet grass family (Poaceae) is named after him .
