Michael Count Munster

Michael Graf Münster (* 1957 in Cologne ) is a German church musician and theologian .

Count Münster grew up in Stuttgart and was influenced there by Helmuth Rilling's Bach Collegium Stuttgart . He studied theology and church music in Tübingen and Munich, there among others with Sergiu Celibidache . Count Münster taught at the Evangelical Monastery of Tübingen as a music repeater and was a lecturer at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen . From 1992 to 1997 he was parish priest in Reutlingen at the Katharinenkirche .

In 1997 the 39-year-old was appointed regional church music director of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau . Since 1998 he has also worked as a part-time cantor at St. Katharinen in Frankfurt . After thirteen years, he resigned from his position as regional church music director in 2010. From October 2010 he will be the cantor at St. Katharinen on a full-time basis.
