Michael Hüttler

Michael Hüttler (born 1966 in Tulln ) is an Austrian theater scholar , author and director of the Viennese publisher Hollitzer .

Life

Hüttler worked in banking for several years and then studied theater studies as well as journalism and communication studies at the University of Vienna . In 2000 he was a researcher at the University of Yaoundé I . From 2001 to 2003 he taught at the Yeditepe Üniversitesi in Istanbul, after which he worked as a lecturer at the Institute for Theater, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna until 2010 . In 2004 he was one of six directors of the 120th action by Hermann Nitsch , in 1998 an actor in the 100th action (6-day play of the Orgien Mysterien Theater) in Prinzendorf, in 2005 in the 122nd action in the Vienna Burgtheater . From 2001 he worked as a research assistant at the Da Ponte Institute in Vienna and at the Don Juan Archive in Vienna , which he headed from 2007 to 2010. Since 2011 he has been heading the Hollitzer Wissenschaftsverlag, which has also been publishing fiction since 2015 .

Hüttler's main research interests are theater in the 18th century and cultural transfer between the Ottoman Empire and European theater. He has published on Mozart and Nitsch , theater ethnology and theater anthropology , corporate theater and experimental theater in Austria. Series editor of the academic book series Ottomania (7 volumes until 2018) and Specula Spectacula (5 volumes until 2018). He is a member of the Groupe international de recherches interdisciplinaires “Spectacle vivant et sciences de l'homme”.
