from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Hardt (listed more often than Michel Hardt , * July 23, 1878 in Leuchtenberg , † 1962 in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab ) was an Upper Palatinate chronicler and homeland researcher and honorary citizen of the community of Altenstadt an der Waldnaab.

After the death of his wife, Hardt settled in Altenstadt. He dealt with the history of the Nordgau and historical old streets, such as the Goldenen Straße or the Magdeburger Straße in the region. Michael Hardt saw his main activity in drawing up floor plans for Upper Palatinate castles , castle stables and monuments . His work on research into the land monuments in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district , which lasted four years and was presented in 1950 at the Nuremberg Association of German Stone Cross Research, is of particular importance . For his work, Hardt had covered around 700 km² with 60 communities, in the Altlandkreis Neustadt Hardt reported 152 land monuments ( death boards , pillars of torture and stone crosses ), many of which have already disappeared without a trace.

On his 75th birthday, Michael Hardt was made an honorary citizen in recognition of his decades of local research . As a thank you, he wrote the first chronicle for Altenstadt, which is still the basis for historical research today. Little has survived of Michael Hardt's other works, portfolios, writings and essays.

Michael Hardt's grave in Altenstadt has been preserved to this day, there is also a street named after the honorary citizen.
