Michael Hettinger

Michael Hettinger (born July 13, 1948 in Speyer ) is a German legal scholar and holder of the chair for criminal law , criminal procedural law and criminal law history at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

Life

Hettinger studied at the University of Heidelberg and did his habilitation there with the topic: The "actio Libera in Causa": A historical-dogmatic investigation by Wilfried Küper . After working as a lawyer and professor at the University of Würzburg , he is now professor of criminal law, criminal procedure law and criminal law history at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. His research focuses on criminal law dogmatics, sentencing law, legislative methodology, the history of criminal law and criminal procedure law, as well as criminal policy. Among other things, he is co-editor of the Goltdammer's Archive for Criminal Law and the current author of the standard work "Criminal Law Special Part / 1: Crimes against personal and community values" founded by Johannes Wessels . Hettinger is married, lives near Bad Kreuznach and has two children.
