Michael Horbach
Michael Horbach (born December 13, 1924 in Aachen , † November 1, 1986 in Marseille ; pseudonyms : Michael Donrath, TS Laurens, Roger Ravenna, Alex Torgau, Alexander Torgau ) was a German journalist and writer .
Life
Michael Horbach was drafted into the Wehrmacht at the age of eighteen and deployed on the Eastern Front, where he was wounded several times. After the end of the Second World War he worked as a journalist and worked for various news agencies . In addition, he began to write novels in which he processed his war experiences and his experiences in the first post-war years.
In 1958 he married the journalist Ursula Schaake, whom he encouraged to write and who rose to become a successful novelist under the name Alexandra Cordes . Michael Horbach repeatedly included topics from the time of the Third Reich in his works ; In addition, novels on current topics were created, which, however , were dismissed by literary criticism as pure entertainment or trivial literature . The total circulation of Horbach's works in the mid-1980s was more than four million copies sold.
Michael Horbach had lived with his wife on a spacious estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in Provence since the mid-1970s . The gun lover Horbach shot his wife Alexandra Cordes with a revolver from his gun collection on the night of October 27, 1986, and a few hours later shot himself in the head, which resulted in death in a hospital in Marseille after several days of coma .
