Michael J. Cleary
Michael J. Cleary CSSp (born September 1, 1925 in Brickens , County Mayo , Ireland ) is an Irish Roman Catholic Bishop Emeritus of Banjul in Gambia .
Life
Michael J. Cleary was ordained a priest for the Mission Society of the Holy Spirit on June 29, 1952 . On January 24, 1981 he was appointed Bishop of Banjul as the successor to Michael Joseph Moloney CSSp and consecrated on March 24, 1981 by Archbishop Johannes Dyba ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Joseph Ganda and Bishop Michael Joseph Moloney.
Cleary is the fourth bishop of Banjul, all of whom were members of the Spiritan Congregation. On February 25, 2006, his application to resign when he passed the age limit was granted and he was retired.
