Michael Küppers-Adebisi

Michael Küppers-Adebisi (artist name: Sun Leegba Love a.ka Black Hyperion ), (* 1965 in Krefeld ) is an Afro-German poet , multimedia artist, and culture and event manager.

Life

Michael Küppers-Adebisi studied literature and philosophy at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf from 1988 to 1995 and in 1989 postmodern literature (under Fredric Jameson ) and African-American literature (under Henry Louis Gates, Jr. ) at Duke University , USA. From 1993 to 1996 he studied poetry and performance at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the class of Nan Hoover and Nam June Paik . In 1996 he was the first Afro-German poet to represent the Federal Republic as “literary ambassador” at the Goethe-Institut New York at the Deutsch Nuorican Poetry Festival . He has been a certified multimedia and interactive video producer since 1996. He worked as the head of a multimedia agency, as a “Director for Interactive Internet TV”, as a “Conceptioner” and as a public relations manager. In 2002 he completed his training as an interactive video producer . From 2002 to 2004 he organized three international media congresses , which were held under the title Black Media Congress Berlin in cooperation with the Goethe Institute Berlin, the Heinrich Böll Foundation Berlin and the House of World Cultures Berlin.

In 2004 he initiated the “First Black German International Literature Prize” with the May Ayim Award in Berlin under the patronage of UNESCO . In 2005 he received the ADLER Entrepreneurship and Youth Award from the African Youth Foundation (AYF) in the Best NGO category and was honored with the Bremen Peace Prize 2006. In 2006, Black Heritage magazine honored him as one of the 50 most important Afro-Germans .
