Michael Keller (politician, 1949)

Michael Keller (born December 1949 in Friedberg ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been the mayor of Friedberg since January 2006 .

Life

Keller attended the Adolf Reichwein School in Friedberg. In 1968 he graduated from the Augustinerschule Friedberg . He then studied history and political science in Giessen. He passed the 1st and 2nd state exams . He later became head of the cultural department in his hometown.

From 1999 to 2005, Keller was Friedberg's First City Councilor. On September 11, 2005, he was elected mayor of the city with 54.1% of the valid votes. On September 4, 2011 he was re-elected. Keller achieved 89.8% of the valid votes with a turnout of 26%.

In 2009 he received the Hugo von Ritgen Medal from the Friedberg-Gießen University of Applied Sciences . Keller is married and has two sons.
