Michael Kelly (philosopher)

Michael J. Kelly (born October 4, 1954 ) is an American philosopher and art historian.

He taught history at the University of Delaware and then philosophy at Columbia University . He later became director of the Philosophical Institute at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte .

At times he was executive director of the American Philosophical Society and editor of the Journal of Philosophy . He was also editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics .
