Michael Klein (born November 28, 1945 in Düsseldorf ) is a German lawyer and was a judge at the Federal Court of Justice (1995 to 2010).

Life

After receiving his doctorate, Klein began his professional career in the higher justice service in the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1975 . On September 1, 1976, he was appointed judge for life at the Mannheim District Court , where he worked for several years. With effect from October 18, 1983, Klein was appointed judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court. Klein worked there until the end of 1990, interrupted by secondments. As part of the rebuilding of ordinary jurisdiction in the new federal states after the political change in 1989, the federal states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria jointly took over the sponsorship of the Free State of Saxony. As a result of this sponsorship, Klein switched to the justice service of the state of Saxony in 1991 . There he was appointed presiding judge at the Dresden Higher Regional Court with effect from January 1, 1994 .

This activity was short-lived, however, as Klein was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice on September 1, 1995, where he was a member of the 5th Civil Senate of the Federal Court of Justice . In 2005 he became deputy chairman of the fifth civil senate. On September 30, 2010, he stopped working at the Federal Court of Justice and went into retirement. As a reporter, he had considerable influence on the highest court rulings on the treatment of land reform and on the development of the law of home ownership .
