Michael Kreuzberg (born October 29, 1957 in Cologne ) is a German local politician. Since October 2013 he has been the district administrator of the Rhein-Erft district . From 1999 to October 2013 he was full-time mayor (CDU) of the city of Brühl in the Rhein-Erft district, North Rhine-Westphalia .

Professional career

After graduating from high school in 1976 at the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Cologne, he studied social sciences and German studies at the University of Cologne until 1983 . He passed both state exams. After that, he worked for four years as a consultant and office manager for Heribert Blens , a member of the Bundestag in Cologne . From 1989 he taught for four years at the Archbishopric St. Ursula-Gymnasium in Brühl and six years at the Hardtberg-Gymnasium in Bonn .

From 1995 to 2000 Kreuzberg was party chairman of the Brühl branch of the Christian Democratic Union . From 1999 to 2013 he was elected mayor of the castle town of Brühl three times with an absolute majority in the first ballot. In 2014 he was awarded the city's ring of honor.

After the runoff election on October 6, 2013, Kreuzberg is the district administrator of the Rhein-Erft district and will be elected until 2020. In the summer of 2018 he was appointed by the federal government as a voting member of the Commission for Growth, Structural Change and Employment . There he is one of the regional representatives of the coal fields. As a district administrator he is u. a. also chairman of the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Köln , chairman of the shareholders' meeting of the Rheinisches Revier future agency , board member of Metropolregion Rheinland eV and head of the Rhineland Nature Park Association .

Kreuzberg is married and has three children.

He has been Senate President of the Honorary Guard of the City of Cologne since September 2010 . In October 2018 he was elected 14th President of the Zentral-Dombau-Verein zu Cologne .
