The Hardtberg-Gymnasium Bonn is a public high school with a Franco-German branch and a MINT-EC school on the Brüser Berg in Bonn - Hardtberg . It was founded in 1966.
history
The Hardtberg Gymnasium was founded in 1966 after the Easter break as the “Staatliches Gymnasium Duisdorf II” and started operations on April 15, 1966 with 52 students. The location was originally founded as a branch of the Duisdorf Helmholtz-Gymnasium Bonn in the barracks of the Federal Ministry of Defense , but grew rapidly and in 1970 it had its own building with 473 students and 35 teachers.
In 2003, the pollutant PCB ( polychlorinated biphenyls ) was found in the Hardtberg Gymnasium building . As a result, the Hardtberg Gymnasium building was extensively renovated with an investment of around 7 million euros. The lessons took place parallel to this PCB remediation, which was the largest in the city of Bonn, in container classes. The inauguration of the new school building took place on August 24, 2007. On July 7, 2017, the headmaster Inge Stauder retired after almost 24 years. Günther Schlag has been the headmaster of the Hardtberg Gymnasium since 2017.
School profile
Profiles
Bilingual German-French branch
A bilingual German-French branch has existed at Hardtberg-Gymnasium since 1975. The students in this branch receive French lessons of six hours per week from grade 5 onwards. From grade 7 geography lessons are given in French, followed by politics and history in grade 8.
To apply the acquired language skills, there is a student exchange with the Collège Jean Jaurés in Colomiers near Toulouse in grade 7 . At the beginning of the EF ( introductory phase ) the students can choose whether they want to keep the bilingual lessons. In year Q1 (11) there will be another exchange meeting with the Lycée Ribeaupierre in Ribeauvillé in Alsace. From the school year 2016/2017, bilingual students have the opportunity to acquire the AbiBac at Hardtberg-Gymnasium. This makes the Hardtberg-Gymnasium the only school alongside the Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium (Bonn) that offers this Franco-German degree.
Scientific branch
Hardtberg-Gymnasium has been a MINT-EC school since the beginning of the 2011/2012 school year . This not only gives the students the opportunity to acquire a MINT certificate together with the Abitur, with which special scientific achievements are recognized, but also leads to increased scientific teaching in the lower secondary level . The Hardtberg Gymnasium also offers the Junior Engineer Academy as a differentiation course from grade 8 .
Wind class
Since the school year 2012/2013 the Hardtberg-Gymnasium has been offering a wind class during the test level . The students learn a wind instrument in small groups and play it in the class orchestra at concerts. From grade 7 onwards, students can continue their instrumental lessons and continue playing in a joint ensemble. In addition to the wind classes, the Hardtberg-Gymnasium also offers pure instrumental lessons. The Hardtberg-Gymnasium has several musical ensembles such as the Next Generation Band, the Symphonic Wind Orchestra and the HBG Big Band and the HBG Popsingers, who perform on various occasions both inside and outside the school.
Language sequence
English is taught from the beginning of the test level , and French in the bilingual class. In grade 8 there is the option of choosing Latin as a differentiation course and acquiring the Latinum with the Abitur . At the beginning of the introductory phase, Spanish can be chosen as the new foreign language. Certificates such as the DELF-DALF program , the Cambridge English Language Assessment and CertiLingua can also be acquired.
Cooperation with other grammar schools
The Hardtberg-Gymnasium cooperates with the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Gymnasium (Bonn) and the Helmholtz-Gymnasium Bonn in order to give the students a wide range of advanced courses. The Hardtberg Gymnasium is one of the few schools in Bonn to offer an advanced sports course.
further activities
The Hardtberg-Gymnasium is the first cooperative school of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and thus offers the program “Promote, Challenge, Research”, in which upper-level students can take part in university lectures and collect credit points . The Hardtberg-Gymnasium is also the holder of the “Individual Support” seal of approval and the winner of the “Good Healthy School” award from the NRW Accident Insurance Fund.
