obituary

An obituary, published in the Grenzbote on October 23, 1949:

"Hauptschoolirektor M. Krickl †
Hauptschoolirektor Michael Krickl is suddenly different. With the deceased one of our best homeland poets passed away. His descriptions seemed simple and undemanding, full of delicate poetry, a commitment to the peasantry from which he came, his loving depiction of village life and his childhood in it. He was a sensitive, masterful little painter who was able to depict life as it surrounded him in unaffected prose. She expressed her soulful, down-to-earth Austrian character, moodiness and cheerfulness, which was often accompanied by Austrian melancholy about the transience of life. Krickl was also a good lecturer and to those who heard them, the two lectures in the "Urania" will be unforgettable, in which he experiences the village life with its tranquility, but also with its customs from New Year to New Year's Eve Father's house, the loving figure of his mother, described. It is to be regretted that the essays and numerous literary works of the local poet Krickl have not yet appeared in print, combined in one volume. Main school director Krickl was a loyal employee of the "Grenzbote" for years. It is a pity that much of his writing has been lost. Krickl will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him and his writings. Honor his memory! "

- Dr. Leopold Feiler.

Appreciation

Krickl's literary work is acknowledged in the homeland book of the Bruck an der Leitha district (1953) in the article "Outstanding Personalities":

“Michael Krickl, director of the secondary school in Bruck from 1931 to 1934, born in 1883 as the son of a farmer in Wultendorf, Lower Austria, died in 1949. In short stories, he aptly portrayed village life in his homeland in the Weinviertel with a warm heart and a clear eye. It is a pity that these essays, which appeared in various local papers, were not published collectively. Interesting peculiarities of our homeland in language and customs, which are already half a thing of the past, could have been saved from being forgotten. "
