Michael Leja

Michael Leja (born September 8, 1950 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Leja attended the Polytechnic High School and the Extended High School in Halle and passed her Abitur. He studied agricultural engineering at the Wilhelm Pieck University in Rostock , which he completed as a graduate engineer, and then took up additional studies at the Technical University of Chemistry "Carl Schorlemmer" in Leuna and Merseburg as a specialist engineer for air pollution control. Leja joined the seed industry's engineering office in Quedlinburg in 1975 , where he worked as a project engineer and group leader. In 1988 he became head of department at the VEB Scientific and Technical Center for the Seed Industry.

Leja, who joined the CDU in 1977, was a member of the last Volkskammer in 1990 and, later after reunification, the German Bundestag . Since 2007 he has headed the office for economic development in the administration of the Harz district .
