Michael Maier (born February 20, 1964 ) is a former German competitive marathon and ultra runner .

career path

Michael Maier is a financier and after his active time organized the '' Westweg Adventure Run ''.

Athletic career

In 1993, Michael Maier had his biggest competition success to date with a podium finish in third place at the Swiss Ultra Marathon .

In 1995 a 2nd place at the 60 km Marburg and a 6th place at the German 50 km track running championship and in Bobingen the German DUV championship in the 24-hour run followed .

In 1996 Maier became German DUV champion both in the 100 km track run and again in the 24-hour run, in which he also set a new course record. Furthermore, Maier IAU was runner-up in the European 24-hour run .

In 1997 he took 1st place in the 2nd SCMT 6-hour run in Nuremberg.

In 1998, 3rd place followed both in the Self-Transcendence 24h run in Basel and at the IAU 24-hour run European championships .

In 1999 Maier won the Wörschacher 24-hour charity run.

Privately, in July 2000, he and his colleague Walter Eberhard walked the Westweg in six days.

In 2001 Maier finished 4th in the Edersee Supermarathon and won the West Highland Way Race Race.

After his active competitive time, Maier devoted himself to the adventure run.

Club affiliations

Michael Maier last started for “Fit for Life Dachau” and was previously at “Non Plus Ultra Esslingen” and before that for many years at “FC Unterkirnach”.
