German Championships of the DUV
The German championships of the DUV ( German Ultramarathon Association ) for different disciplines of the ultra running are or were held annually. In each of the five disciplines, a German champion was determined in the men's and women's classes. Since 2019, only German championships in the 6-hour run have been held by the DUV , the other four disciplines of 50 km road running , 24-hour running and ultra trail have been taken over by the German Athletics Association (DLV).
history
The German Ultramarathon Association was founded on December 29, 1985 in Rodenbach (near Hanau) and, as the world's largest organization for ultramarathon runners, has around 1,600 members (as of April 2017). The following championships have been held since then:
- 100 km road run unofficially 1984 to 1986 - since 1987 official championships of the DLV
- 100-kilometer track 1989–2001
- 50 kilometer run road since 1995
- 50-kilometer track run 2000–2001
- 6-hour run since 2012
- 24-hour run since 1989
- Ultratrail (formerly known as cross and landscape running) since 2001
On February 16, 2018, the DLV Association Council decided on some changes in the DLV regulations at its meeting in Bochum. From January 1, 2019, due to the inclusion of ultra running distances in the men's / women's competition program, the 50-kilometer run, the 24-hour run and the Ultratrail DLV championship disciplines, with the German championships being organized by the German Ultramarathon Association (DUV ), when applying the rules of the DLV.
100 km runs
The 100 km run, like the 50 km and other runs, can be run as a track or road run .
100 km road run
The first German championships of the DUV in the 100-kilometer road race were organized from 1984 to 1986 and were nicknamed the "unofficial German 100 km championship". From 1987 they are under the aegis of the German Athletics Association (DLV). In November 2016, the DLV announced, although it had already been decided in summer, that from 2017 foreigners without German citizenship will no longer be allowed to participate in German athletics championships .
According to DLV President Clemens Prokop , the primary purpose of the change in regulation is to “ensure that the German championships serve to determine the best German national”, and apart from the German championship, no competition will be affected. The DLV also justified the rule change with the fact that (financially strong) clubs obtained an illegal advantage from athletes bought in at short notice from abroad for whom the date of entry into the club was pre-dated in order to simulate the mandatory one-year membership, or substantial ones Doubts about the age of athletes could not be verified. But now those who live here, have been in clubs for years and have already been able to take part in German championships are being discriminated against.
At its general meeting on March 10, 2017, the DUV unanimously passed a resolution that opposes the DLV's decision to prohibit foreigners without German citizenship from participating in the German championships. Because they cannot score points in the ultramarathon Bundesliga if the official 100 km DM result is used. In the closed meeting from 1./2. On April 1st, the DUV Presidium decided to use the open run and not the DM valuation for the Bundesliga points so that these athletes can continue to help their clubs to get Bundesliga points.
