Moritz auf der Heide (born November 3, 1987 in Siegburg ) is a German long-distance and ultra runner .

biography

Moritz auf der Heide started running at the end of his school days at the Kardinal-Frings-Gymnasium , originally to beat his mother's best time (3:18 h) over the marathon distance.

In 2009 he ran his first half marathon in 1:33 h on the heather and a year later in October in Detroit ( USA ) the first marathon in 2:52 h, for which he had been preparing for months. Moritz auf der Heide starts for the LAZ Puma Rhein-Sieg club , but mostly trains alone in his adopted home of Munich . In the meantime he lived in Mudgeeraba, Australia .

In 2015 Moritz auf der Heide won his first individual medal at the German championships at the 100 km from St. Leon-Rot in a time of 7:26:39 h . In the same year, with the leap into the German national team, he participated in the world championships in the disciplines “mountain running long distance” and “100 km road”.
While he finished 24th at the Mountain Running World Championships (long distance) as part of the Zermatt Marathon ( CHE ), he had to go to the IAU 100K World & European Championships in Winschoten ( NLD ) after 40 km due to a drawback Give up injury.

At the 2016 Mountain Running World Championships over the long distance in Podbrdo, Slovenia (42 km; 2800 m ascent ), Moritz landed on the Heide in 57th place out of 69 classified runners.

At the IAU Trail World Championships 2017 in Badia Prataglia ( ITA ) over 49 km and 2900 hm, Moritz auf der Heide could not meet his self-imposed expectations with a time of 5:25:18 h and only came in 72nd place. Because of food poisoning , he was unable to start the first two stages of the TransRockies Run 2017 , but finished the remaining four stages.

He achieved his best international placement to date at the Mountain Running World Championships Long Distance 2019 in Villa La Angostura, Argentina, with a 13th place out of a total of 88 runners at the finish. With the German team ( Benedikt Hoffmann 21st place, Florian Reichert 40th place) he also placed 8th out of 19 teams.

From 2014 to 2016 he was part of the Asics Frontrunner .
