The Frankfurt Mainova Half Marathon (official name 2009-2015 Frankfurt Lufthansa Half Marathon after the sponsor Lufthansa ; previously Frankfurt City Half Marathon ) is a people and road run in Frankfurt am Main , which has been organized by Spiridon Frankfurt eV since 2003 at the beginning of March. It is one of the largest half marathons in Germany. The number of participants increases every year, in 2017 a new record was set with 5,397 finishers.
route
The route, which was changed in 2010, leads from the start at the Commerzbank-Arena to the north through the Niederrad district and the "office town" there to the banks of the Main. Shortly before the Eiserner Steg (about kilometer marker 10) the route leads through the Sachsenhausen-Süd district , then via Stresemannallee and Mörfelder Landstrasse to the Isenburger Schneise. A turning point has been set up
here in the direction of Neu-Isenburg . The route is then led back over the Otto-Fleck-Schneise and over a bridge over the federal highway 43 back to the Commerzbank-Arena. At the end of the route, the athletes circle the arena, then run into the football stadium and pass the finish line in the arena.
The route has been running in the opposite direction since 2020. The previous participant limit could be increased from 6,500 runners to 8,500 runners by eliminating a bottleneck shortly after the old start and now instead of going around the Commerzbank-Arena directly into the stadium.
