Richard Burckardt

Richard Burckardt (born July 23, 1901 in Schlebusch ; † November 14, 1981 in Solingen ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( FDP ).

Life

After attending elementary school and secondary school in Opladen , Burckardt completed a commercial apprenticeship from 1918 to 1921 in a steel strip mill and a façon forge. He then worked as an employee in the steel and metal trade. In 1927 he became a partner in a drop forge for cutlery, tools and vehicle parts in Solingen . He was also a member of various trade associations in the metalworking industry.

During the Weimar Republic , Burckardt was a member of the DVP from 1919 to 1933 . In 1940 he joined the NSDAP ( membership number 7.970.632). After the Second World War he became a member of the FDP . Since 1960 he was chairman of the FDP district association Solingen.

Burckardt was elected to the city council of Solingen in 1952 and was a member of the Rhineland Landscape Assembly from 1952 to 1961 . In the 1961 federal election , he entered the Bundestag via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia , to which he was a member until 1965. From 1963 to 1965 he was deputy chairman of the Bundestag committee on foreign trade.

Burckardt has served as mayor of the city of Solingen since 1961.

In 1971 he was awarded the Ring of Honor of the City of Solingen.
