IAU Trail World Championships
The IAU Trail World Championships are organized by the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU), from 2016 together with the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), under the auspices of the International Athletics Association IAAF , an ultramarathon competition called landscape running (trail running ) is carried out.
Men and women are rated individually as well as in national teams, with the times of the top three counting for the team rating.
history
In 2007 the IAU launched the World Trail Challenge , an unofficial "world championship" in trail running. At this premiere in Huntsville (Texas) only three starters per nation were allowed, a team evaluation did not take place. With the third event in Connemara (Ireland) the competition was called "Championships" and the team classification was introduced - as in other world championships. It took place every two years until 2015, and the world championship has been held annually since 2016.
World championships
The International Landscape Running Association (ITRA) has been involved in the organization of the World Landscape Running Championships since 2016 .
